A group of friends' fun Labor Day weekend outing on the Colorado River turned tragic when a San Diego man fell over the side of the boat and drowned, according to officials from the San Bernardino's Sheriff's Department. After police searched for the man for several days, his body was reported by a fisherman Wednesday morning. It was later identified to be the missing man.
On Thursday, San Diego's chief lifeguard joined Mayor Jerry Sanders to emphasize the importance of staying safe on the city's beaches, in the water and on boats. With summer temperatures already here and Memorial Weekend on the way, San Diego expects to see close to 800,000 people on its beaches over the long weekend.
