There are many hazards that California drivers must consider when on the road. While some dangers are unavoidable, others may be due to the negligence of other drivers. When individuals choose to drive after drinking, they are risking their own life and the lives of everyone else on the road. Driving under the influence of alcohol can lead to serious accidents. One such accident claimed the lives of three victims in the early hours of an autumn morning.

How the accident happened

At around 2:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers were called to an accident in the Bakersfield area. The two-car collision involved a Jeep Cherokee and a Toyota Corolla. Upon inspection of the accident, officers believe that the Jeep, which was driving southbound, veered into the northbound lane, striking the car.

The driver of the Jeep is suspected of driving under the influence. She was seriously injured in the crash and was taken for medical care before being arrested. Unfortunately, the driver and two passengers in the Toyota suffered fatal injuries in the crash. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Legal options for car accident victims

Car accidents are unexpected events, which is why it can be extremely traumatic for family members who lose a loved one in this manner. In addition to that, when the loss of life occurred because someone may have been driving under the influence of alcohol, loved ones can feel very emotional after such a trying ordeal. While seeking legal compensation through a wrongful death civil claim may not be the first thing on the minds of those surviving family members, these funds can be very helpful in paying for expenses related to the death of their loved one.
