San Diego County crash leaves one dead

An accident in the northern area of San Diego County has left one dead. The two-vehicle crash happened on a rural road. The accident is under investigation and witnesses are encouraged to call the California Highway Patrol if they have any information.

The head-on collision occurred on a road in the northern area of the county. A Honda Civic, driven by a 58-year-old man, was traveling in the westbound lane. The other vehicle, traveling eastbound, was a pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old man. For unknown reasons, the Honda veered into the eastbound lane and struck the pickup head-on. The driver of the Honda succumbed to his injuries.

Respondents to the scene included California Highway Patrol, the San Diego County Sherriff’s Department, and fire and rescue from North County. Upon initial investigation of the crash, police believe that the driver of the Honda Civic may have been driving under the influence of alcohol, which may have contributed to the crash.
