Watch out for fast-food workplace hazards

As someone who works in fast food, you may not realize just how many dangers there are around you. There is hot oil and a fryer that could cause serious burns, hot stove tops and equipment, sharp knives and slippery floors.

What are the most common fast-food workplace hazards?

Some of the most common fast-food workplace hazards include:

  • Cutting yourself with sharp objects during food preparation
  • Falling slick floors covered in oil or that are wet from being mopped

  • Chemical burns or related issues from using bleach, dishwashing products and cleaning products

What should you do if you get hurt on the job?

If you get hurt while working, you can ask your employer to seek medical attention right away. If it’s an emergency, call 911 and wait for the ambulance or medical team to arrive.

Your employer should report the injury to the workers’ compensation provider and help you start a claim for your medical care as soon as possible. When you get to meet with a medical provider, make sure to let them know that you suffered an injury at work. They’ll prepare the appropriate documents to help you with your workers’ compensation claim.

What should you do if your employer doesn’t want to help?
