Drivers in California and elsewhere are expected to follow the rules of the road and travel safely. While this can happen, as many drivers do follow the rules, the unfortunate reality is that some drivers are careless, negligent and reckless. This can lead to serious and even fatal car accidents, impacting victims and their loved ones in a significant way.

According to recent reports, a serous collision occurred in Rancho Penasquitos when a driver that is suspected of running a red light collided with another vehicle. Authorities in San Diego believe the crash occurred when a man headed south on Black Mountain Road hit a 61-year-old woman traveling east on Park Village Road.

The accident took place around 9:40 a.m. Police suspect that the driver ran through a red light, causing the crash. It is not clear at this time if authorities suspect that the 23-year-old driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. The woman driving the other vehicle was injured in the crash. She was transported to the hospital where it was reported that she suffered a neck fracture. This injury is not believed to be life threatening.

Following a car accident, it is important to understand the cause. This can help establish whether a negligent driver was to blame. Whether an accident was caused by distractions, intoxication, speeding or any other negligent act, by proving negligence, a victim could seek damages for losses suffered by a negligent driver. This could help address losses such as medical bills, rehabilitation, lost wages and other related damages.
