Three killed in intersection crash in Oceanside

When individuals operate or travel in a vehicle, they are under the impression that they will get from one point to another safely. Sure, a person may encounter traffic, deal with inclement weather and even drive by accident sites, but most people do not consider the possibility of being involved in a collision. They certainly do not think that they will lose a loved one in an automobile collision.

Unfortunately, an intersection collision in Oceanside claimed the lives of three people recently. The three individuals were traveling in a sedan with three others when a truck ran through a red light. The crash took place at the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and Coast Highway. According to reports, the three other passengers were injured in the crash.

Initial investigation revealed that the 19-year-old driver of the truck did not hit the brakes prior to colliding with the sedan. Witnesses state that he seemed unconcerned following the crash. The driver was found with 1.6 grams of cocaine on his person at the time of the crash. He is currently facing seven charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter. In addition to facing criminal liabilities, the driver at fault could also face civil liabilities for those killed and injured in the crash.

The death of a loved one because of the negligence of another is a challenging event to accept and move forward from. It is not only the grief of their loss that makes this matter difficult, it is also the damages that surviving family members must endure because of the fatal accident. In these matters, a wrongful death lawsuit could prove beneficial. This legal action could help recover compensation, addressing losses such as medical bills, funeral costs, lost wages and other related damages.
