California the worst state for poor driving

| Jan 16, 2018 | Car Accidents |

You enjoy heading out and traveling, but it seems like every time you do, you’re putting yourself in harm’s way. You don’t think that the drivers around you are really that bad, but is it just a coincidence that you’ve nearly been hit so many times?

The truth of the matter is that California’s drivers do actually rank the worse in the entire country. The reason for being ranked so horribly comes down to drunk driving, congested freeways and distractions behind the wheel.

5 of the top 10 cities for poor driving are in California

Yes, it’s true. Five of the top 10 cities with the worst drivers are in California. Those cities include Riverside, Los Angeles, Bakersfield, San Diego and Sacramento, which is the number one city for worst-ranked drivers.

A study that ranked drivers didn’t look at just a single factor. It took data into consideration including DUIs, speeding tickets, fatalities and other accident-related data.

What can you do if you’re in a crash?

Since there’s a high likelihood of getting into a crash, you need to know what to do if one takes place. If you’re struck, try to move any disabled vehicles off the roadway. Call for emergency help immediately, so the police and emergency medical team is alerted to the problem.

After that, it’s a good idea to collect information about the crash. Ask for the other driver’s name, address, insurance information and license plate number. If you’re able to do so, talk to witnesses and obtain their information.

If you can, take photos or a video of the scene, so you don’t have to try to remember exactly what everything looked like. It’s always helpful to have a visual aide. Finally, go to the hospital for treatment, so you have a record of your initial injuries.

These are a few things to do if you’re in a crash. California has the worst drivers in the country, but if you’re cautious, you can avoid a crash or, at the very least, know what to do when you are hit.
