The most dangerous private job might not be construction

Even this blog focuses heavily on construction accidents in and around the San Diego area. Construction workers do indeed put their lives at risk every day they go to work, and they should be acknowledged for that, at least by getting taken care of if and when they get hurt.

However, construction workers are not the only profession in California in which employees suffers a higher rate of workplace injuries. For instance, when one looks at the most recent statistics available, it is very clear that medical professionals like nurses, particularly those who work in hospitals, have a particularly high rate of work-related injuries.

This is not surprising since nurses often lift patients and have to move relatively quickly in order to get all of their work done. Likewise, Californians who work in food service or in California's busy hospitality and tourism industry are more prone to suffering work-related injuries. Again, when one thinks of the type of work these people do, it involves a lot of moving around and a lot of lifting, both of which are activities that can cause an injury.

The point is that there are a lot of dangerous jobs out there that people in this state take on every day simply to provide for themselves and their families. Fortunately, California's no-fault workers' compensation system is there or at least should be there to help these workers get back on their feet after a work-related accident. After all, no matter what one's profession, an accident at work can happen to anybody. Still, workers in California may find it easier to navigate through the workers' compensation system with the help of an experienced workers' compensation attorney.
