Not all accidents are easily explained. When an accident leaves more questions than answers, police or other authorities may need to turn to the public for help in order to bring about a fair and just resolution. Recently, police in California have had to call on the public to help resolve a pedestrian accident that resulted in serious injuries.
The accident happened on a Saturday night, just before 8 p.m. The police contend a vehicle came along and hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered what was reported to be major injuries, but no specifics were given regarding the nature of the injuries or the age of the pedestrian hit. The vehicle fled the scene.
Police believe the vehicle was a gray Honda. Pieces of the vehicle were left behind, and witnesses offered descriptions that may prove helpful. The witnesses say the driver was a man with blonde hair. As for the debris left behind, it leaves authorities to believe the vehicle they are searching for will have a missing side mirror and damage to the hood.
Once California police find whoever was behind the wheel, that person may face criminal charges related to the pedestrian accident. As for the pedestrian injured, that person has rights that reach beyond justice provided by any criminal charge or possible conviction. That injured party may be able to pursue a personal injury suit in a civil court. This could be a means of recovering monetary losses suffered as a result of being hit by the vehicle. These losses may include lost wages, medical bills or the on-going cost of medical treatment or therapies.
