Pedestrian accident turns fatal in California

A 59-year-old man was hit by a car while attempting to cross a street in Thermal, California. Unfortunately, the man did not survive the incident. The California Highway Patrol is currently still investigating the pedestrian accident as details become public.

It was just before 9:30 p.m. when the driver of a Honda Civic was heading north on the roadway. That 27-year-old driver hit the man who was crossing the street at the time. It was reported that the front left side of the Civic struck the pedestrian.

The 59-year-old man was rushed to a hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained. However, despite medical care, he passed away about an hour after getting to the hospital. The driver wasn't injured in the crash. The California Highway Patrol has reported that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the incident, but the driver was not arrested at the time.

After police conclude an investigation into what happened or what caused this pedestrian accident, liability or fault may be clear. If it is shown that the driver was liable or at fault for the death of the pedestrian, the deceased man's family may have legal options to pursue in a California civil court. One of those options may be to pursue a wrongful death suit against the driver who caused the accident. If successful, the family may be awarded monetary damages which could prove useful as they face financial woes from losing a loved one in such an unexpected and tragic manner.
