Pedestrian accident takes life of teen in California

On Behalf of | Aug 31, 2016 | Pedestrian Accidents |

While his identity is not yet being released to the public, a teenager has lost his life after being hit by a car. The teen was the victim of a pedestrian accident that occurred on a California highway. The accident happened on a Wednesday after 5 p.m.

The early reports of the accident indicate the teenager was on foot at the time. However, it was not known why he was walking along the highway. He was 15 years old.

The extent of his injuries was not reported, and it is unclear if he was transported to a medical facility for treatment or died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the car that hit him was not believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the crash took place. Hours later, a lane of the highway was still closed, and there was no report as to when it would reopen.

An investigation of this pedestrian accident may reveal a cause of the accident or indicate some level of liability on the part of the driver. If liability in some form is established, the family of this teenager may have legal options that could prove beneficial as they try to move forward from such a devastating incident. A civil suit in a California civil court can be one possible way in which the family may recover some financial losses they may have suffered as a result of the pedestrian accident. Those losses may include funeral costs, medical bills or other expenses directly related to the accident.
