Pedestrian accident in California leads to serious injuries

| Aug 19, 2016 | Pedestrian Accidents |

Unfortunately, a pedestrian proved no match for an SUV recently as an accident resulted in serious injuries — which is typically the case in such incidents. The pedestrian accident reportedly occurred near the intersection of a California expressway and local boulevard in Santa Clara. The victim is said to be a 65-year-old male.

The accident was apparently reported to authorities around 8:37 p.m., on Tues. Aug. 9. The vehicle that hit the pedestrian was a white Land Rover. The age of the driver was not reported, and it is not known if he or she suffered any injuries in the crash.

The pedestrian is said to have suffered severe head trauma. There were no other details given about the man’s condition or the name of the hospital where he was taken. Local authorities have not provided any further information regarding how this collision occurred or if any criminal charges are pending against the driver.

An investigation into this incident by the California Highway Patrol may provide some answers as to how this pedestrian accident occurred — which could certainly help the victim and his family move forward. If it is believed that the driver was negligent in his or her actions leading to the crash, the victim may have legal options that reach beyond the scope of any possible criminal charges related to the accident. For example, the victim may pursue a personal injury claim in civil court in an effort to seek compensation that may be useful to pay for medical expenses, lost wages or other financial losses that occurred as a direct result of the accident.
