Auto repair employee suffers work injury in business fire

An employee at an auto repair shop in California suffered burn injuries in a fire that broke out at the business near the end of July. As a result of this work injury, the employee was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

On Friday, July 29, firefighters were called to extinguish a fire at Mini World Inc., in the Sun Valley area. After arriving, they were able to put out the fire in about 22 minutes. One individual -- an employee -- was found to have been hurt. This person is said to have suffered second-degree burns to his arms, and he was promptly transported to a medical facility. Authorities say that he was in fair condition before being taken to the hospital.

Investigators are still unsure what caused this fire. It is believed it may have been accidental, though the investigation is still ongoing. Along with the employee being hurt as a result of this incident, the building was damaged, as was at least one car in the shop.

When one is hurt while on the job, he or she may not know exactly to what benefits he or she is entitled under California and federal laws. In accordance with current laws, this employee may qualify to have his medical expenses related to this incident compensated and any further care, loss of income or disability covered. Of course, sometimes obtaining full benefits can be somewhat of a challenge. With the assistance of legal counsel, this employee can work to achieve maximum compensation for his work injury.
