Pedestrian accident in California results in serious injuries

Walking across the street at night became a dangerous and injury-inducing endeavor for one man. The man was crossing the street in a California town when he was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian accident left him with life-threatening injuries.

It was just after midnight when the 24-year-old man started across the street. This was when a 31-year-old man came along in a Honda Civic. The vehicle struck the man.

The pedestrian who was hit by the Honda needed immediate medical attention and was transported to a nearby area hospital for treatment. While his injuries were reported to be life-threatening in nature, there were no exact details given as to what exact injuries the man incurred. According to police at the scene of the accident, the driver did not appear to be impaired at the time of the crash, and there is an investigation on-going as to whether the pedestrian might have been impaired.

After an investigation is conducted, those involved in this pedestrian accident may have a clear picture about whether or not the driver was liable in any way for the injuries sustained. If, in fact, the driver does bear some responsibility, the injured pedestrian may have cause to pursue civil action against that driver. Civil action in a California court could lead to an award of monetary damages, which could help that injured pedestrian deal with medical bills, the effects of lost wages, on-going medical treatment and other financial losses that resulted from being hit by this driver.
