Police looking for help in fatal California pedestrian accident

| Jun 27, 2016 | Workplace Illness |

Police are currently seeking information about an accident that took the life of a man on the highway recently. The fatal pedestrian accident happened in California at night and took the life of a 24-year-old man. The driver who allegedly hit the man took off from the scene, and this has left police asking for help from the public.

Witness reports tell of a man who was walking along the highway and a disabled motorcycle nearby that he had apparently been on previously. As the man walked, a black SUV or truck came along and struck him. A witness who pulled over to call police after spotting the disabled motorcycle saw the SUV pull back onto the highway and take off at what she called a high rate of speed.

That witness in particular said the vehicle was light colored. The man who was struck died from blunt force injuries. Witnesses have also said the vehicle involved had damage to its front end. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward.

An investigation of this fatal pedestrian accident may pinpoint exactly what happened and how the man was hit. It may also help the police find the person who struck the pedestrian on the California highway. If an investigation yields negligence or recklessness on the part of the vehicle driver as a cause for the death of the pedestrian, the family left behind may be able to pursue a wrongful death suit against that individual as a means of recouping monetary losses that resulted from the loss of their loved one.
