The family of a young man thousands of miles away is reeling from his senseless loss in the Golden State. A tragic bike accident took the life of a young man who lived and worked in California the last few years. The man whose life was lost was only 26 years old.
The accident happened on a Saturday not long after 6 p.m. The bicyclist was riding through his neighborhood when a car came along and struck him. He was killed as a result of the collision.
The man who hit the bicyclist is 22 years old. He has been charged with gross vehicular homicide while intoxicated. Some reports indicate his bold alcohol level may have been two times the legal limit and that he was driving nearly 60 miles per hour. He is being held on $130,000 bail. The victim’s family is headed for California to attend to his arrangements, where the bicyclist who lost his life had lived since 2013.
The loss of the young man in the bike accident may create more than an emotional void in the family left behind. That family may also have to contend with the financial losses such a tragic and unexpected accident can cause for them as they try to move forward. They may have to deal with funeral costs, lost wages and medical bills. If the family so chooses, a wrongful death suit in a California civil court may prove to be an appropriate action to take against the at-fault driver who took the man’s life.
