Bike accident results in head injuries for woman in California

| May 20, 2016 | Bicycle Accidents |

A ride along the highway has left one woman with serious head injuries. The woman was involved in a bike accident when she was hit by a vehicle. California police at the scene reportedly said the injuries were considered to be life-threatening.

The accident happened just after 7 p.m. on a Tuesday. A 23-year-old woman was on her bike, riding near an intersection. A vehicle came along and collided with her. Police did not provide any specific details as to the type of vehicle or how exactly the vehicle came to hit the bicyclist. However, they did say the vehicle driver was an 18-year-old male.

The cyclist needed to be transported to an area hospital for treatment of the injuries she sustained. The driver who hit her stayed at the scene with police. It was indicated that there was no reason to suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident, and no one was arrested for a role in the accident. The woman who was hit was said to have suffered a skull fracture from the collision.

A bike accident of this nature, resulting in serious head injuries, can lead to overwhelming medical bills, expensive and on-going medical treatment, and therapies and other expenses related to a possible long road to recovery. In this case and other such cases in California, personal injury suits may be warranted and can be of benefit for victims of bike accidents. An accident victim may be able to garner monetary damages that could help that victim overcome the financial burdens of medical treatment and other related financial strains caused by a bike accident.
