A university research scientist was recently hit as she rode her bike. The bike accident left her with numerous injuries, and she is currently trying to recover from that long list of injuries. The man who hit her now faces criminal charges; he is reportedly an actor who was all set to act in a play at a California playhouse.
The 42-year-old bicyclist was heading south when she was hit in an intersection while on her bike. She was dragged by the car that hit her and then pinned underneath the car. The car needed to be lifted to free her from underneath. She suffered a lacerated liver, fractured ribs, collapsed ribs and a smashed pelvis, along with other injuries.
The man who hit her is a 47-year-old actor, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He has been charged with driving under the influence. A new bike lane has been placed in the area due to pressure from the family of the woman hit, local bike groups and council members who say the intersection was unsafe for bicyclists as it was.
After the man who caused this bike accident is potentially held accountable for any criminal charges, the victim who was severely injured may have cause to pursue civil action against the man who hit her. She could pursue a personal injury case in a California civil court as a means of garnering monetary damages. The injuries she sustained have possibly resulted in high medical bills and lost wages, and a successful civil case may help her recoup those monetary losses as she begins to move forward from such a devastating bike accident.
