Pedestrian accident in California takes life of two teens

On Behalf of | Apr 6, 2016 | Pedestrian Accidents |

Three people were walking down the shoulder of a road when tragedy struck. A pickup truck came along and struck the group beside a California road. Two of the three lost their lives in this tragic pedestrian accident.

The accident happened just after 5 p.m. The truck was heading south and drifted onto the shoulder of the road. Two of the victims hit were 15 years old. One died at the scene of the accident, and the second boy succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. The third person with the two teen boys was not injured in the crash.

The driver who struck the kids was a 62-year-old male. He was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. There was also reason to believe the driver was involved in an accident that occurred earlier, although no further details about this accident or any possible resulting injuries were reported.

The families of the two young boys lost in this pedestrian accident will have much more to deal with than the overwhelming grief and turmoil of losing a young loved one in such an unexpected manner. Those families may also have to contend with the burden of certain financial ramifications, such as funeral costs. In California, families who have lost a loved one due to the recklessness or negligence of another party may be able to pursue a wrongful death suit in civil court as a means of recouping the financial losses that such an accident can create for families left behind.
