Fatal accident on California highway blamed on street racing

An apparent street race has taken three lives and seriously injured two others. Two drivers are believed to be the cause of this deadly accident that occurred on a California highway. One of the drivers is in custody and the other is being sought to face possible charges in this fatal accident.

The accident happened on a Saturday as one vehicle slammed into a UPS truck. The truck then flipped over the center divider and went into the oncoming lane of traffic. Then, a multi-vehicle accident unfolded, and the UPS driver along with two teenagers died.

The teenagers killed were a 19-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man. The driver who was arrested was a 35-year-old who is being held on a $1 million bail and has a history of driving offenses in more than one state. The second driver is being sought, and authorities say he was driving a Dodge Charger. The highway was closed for roughly 24 hours as the crash was being investigated and the damaged road also needed repaired.

The drivers who are believed responsible for this fatal accident may face serious criminal charges once the other driver is found and an investigation is complete. While the criminal charges unfold, the families of the UPS driver and the two teenagers, as well as the injured parties, may be able to explore legal options in a California civil court. One option for the family members of those killed may be a wrongful death suit that could prove beneficial as the families move forward from the emotional and financial distress this fatal accident caused.
