A pedestrian accident in Escondido recently resulted in the loss of a young man’s life. The 18-year-old was hit by a vehicle operated by an elderly woman driver. The tragic pedestrian accident is currently under investigation by California authorities and there is no word yet about any potential citations or causes of the accident.

The crash occurred on a Saturday night shortly before 9 p.m. The man was walking along the road as the northbound vehicle struck him. The driver, said to be 86 years old, stayed at the scene of the accident.

Authorities at the scene tried to save the 18-year-old victim despite the severity of his injuries. He had what were described as major head injuries and died at the scene of the accident. Police indicated they did not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident, and it was not yet known if the woman would be cited for the tragic collision.

While police are still investigating the incident, they have asked anyone with information about the pedestrian accident to come forward to assist the California authorities. While the family of the young man who lost his life is surely reeling from their loss and dealing with a great deal of grief, they also have legal rights which may benefit them as they move forward from accident. It may be appropriate for the family to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit as a means of seeking relief from the financial ramifications of losing a loved one in this manner.
