An adult and a child suffered serious injuries when they were struck by a car in a pedestrian accident in Bay Terraces earlier this week. According to NBC San Diego, the adult and 8-year-old child were walking in the area of Paradise Valley Road and Deep Dell Road on Monday morning when they were struck by a car.
The extent of their injuries has not been reported, but both people were reportedly sent over the hood of the vehicle upon impact.
The adult and child were transported to hospitals from the scene of the accident; their identities were not immediately released to the public.
The NBC San Diego report does not note whether the driver of the car that struck the two stopped, and whether the driver has been arrested. The cause of the crash appears to remain under investigation, so it is not clear who was at fault at this time.
There are a number of pedestrians and bicyclists in the San Diego area, and it is important for drivers to look out for them. When pedestrians and bicyclists are struck by cars, they often suffer very serious if not fatal injuries. Human bodies are simply no match for motor vehicles.
Those who are involved in pedestrian accidents should seek legal counsel as soon as possible. This can help victims and their families seek justice. When a pedestrian accident is caused by the negligence of a driver, that driver can potentially be held responsible for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and more.
