California girl, 4, killed in motorcycle, truck crash

A tragic collision involving a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle resulted in the death of a 4-year-old girl in Rancho Cucamonga, according to NBC Los Angeles. The news station reported that the girl was a passenger on the motorcycle that was eastbound on 6th Street in the area of Hermosa Avenue last week when a semi-truck that was on the same road made a U-turn right in front of the bike.

The driver of the motorcycle was injured and was taken to a hospital from the scene. The girl, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, was pronounced dead at the crash scene. It does not appear that the truck driver suffered any injuries.

This terrible motorcycle accident is a sobering reminder of how important it is for motor vehicle drivers to keep a lookout for motorcycles. The operators and passengers of motorcycles - whether they are children or adults - generally suffer serious if not fatal injuries in collisions with larger vehicles.

The drivers of tractor-trailers need to take this duty incredibly seriously, as the results of a collision between a semi-truck and a motorcycle are likely to be tragic, as was the case in Rancho Cucamonga last week.

It is unclear at this point how the driver of the motorcycle knew the young victim. It has been reported that they were not related. Her family members may be able to pursue a wrongful death action in this case, depending on the outcome of investigations, in order to hold negligent parties accountable for her death.

In the aftermath of fatal truck accidents, families of victims can often file suits against truckers and/or their employers in order to obtain compensation for funeral expenses, pain and suffering and more. This is also a way to uncover the cause of an accident and help ensure measures are put into place to prevent similar accidents from leading to more tragedies.
