Drunk driver who killed 3 sentenced to prison

Two years ago, a woman who was driving drunk caused a tragic accident. At the time of the crash, the woman's blood alcohol content was reportedly three times the legal limit. She allegedly crashed her SUV into a vehicle that was pulled over and the SUV then rolled over. The woman was ejected from the vehicle in the crash and her fiancé, who was also in the vehicle, was partially ejected from the SUV.

The woman's fiancé and two young women standing by the pulled-over vehicle were killed in the accident. While the woman's attorney argued that she was a passenger in the vehicle, she was charged for driving at the time of the crash. The woman was charged with three counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

As a result of these charges, this woman was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The maximum possible sentence was 14 years. In addition to driving drunk, the woman did not have a driver's license or insurance at the time of the crash. As a result, the families of the accident's victims and the others injured in the accident could not file a claim with the driver's insurance agency.

This situation demonstrates one potential problem that can arise when a driver does not have insurance. Not only can the driver's lack of insurance affect the driver, but it also impacts other motorists on the road. If this woman had had car insurance, the families of the victims and others injured in this accident could have filed a claim with her insurance company for financial compensation.

Family members who lost loved ones in this crash are likely glad that this driver was sentenced to years in prison for her actions, but her prison sentence does not reverse the negative effects of the crash and the woman's decision to drive drunk.
