Cute but dangerous: risks of the Pokemon Go craze

When the first Pokémon games came out in the U.S. in the 1990s for Nintendo Gameboy, many people jumped on the bandwagon and bought the games for their kids. In a world of violent games, one of the saving graces of the game was that characters didn't actually die. If they lost a battle they simply fainted and went back to the hospital until they healed and could go out again.

What do I need to know after a slip-and-fall accident?

The last thing you want to worry about when you are trying to get your grocery shopping done is whether the store is safe. In fact, store owners and other business owners have a responsibility to make sure their property is safe when they invite other people inside.

Highway covered in spilled milk after California truck accident

A truck accident left thousands of gallons of spilled milk on a California highway recently, after a tanker carrying milk on Interstate 5 crashed into another truck as it merged from the shoulder onto the highway. The accident took place around 9 p.m. and the crash itself and resulting milk spill caused a traffic backup for nearly two hours.

California bicycle-pedestrian accident leads to felony charges

A California bicyclist is facing felony charges in connection with a bicycle accident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian earlier this year. The case is one of the few instances in which a bicycle rider has been charged with a felony for his or her role in a fatal crash, but it may not be the last. In the past few months, there have been two other California pedestrian accident fatalities in which bicyclists were involved. One of those incidents resulted in a misdemeanor, and charges have not yet been filed in the other.

New bill seeks increased damages for personal injury plaintiffs

The amount of money a doctor or hospital bills for medical care is not necessarily the same amount an insurance company pays. Usually, in fact, insurers negotiate these amounts down and pay health care providers only a fraction of the original bill. This practice, however, raises an interesting question in personal injury cases: Are recoverable medical costs the amount billed or the amount paid?

Caltrans pulls workers off the road after third death in two months

On Monday, the California Department of Transportation pulled all of its maintenance employees off California roads after a Caltrans employee was hit by a car and killed on a San Diego freeway earlier that day. The fatality marks the third death of a Caltrans employee in the last 48 days, which spurred the one-day shutdown as state transportation employees reexamined safety procedures and attempted to figure out how to prevent similar deaths in the future.

Cab driver crashes into crowd exiting San Diego nightclub

A serious crash outside of a San Diego club last Saturday left approximately 35 people injured, including one woman who nearly lost her leg. The victims were exiting Stingaree-a popular nightlife destination-when a cab driver drove his car into the crowd.

Worker Suffers Injuries in Trench Collapse in South Park

Of the many dangerous conditions under which construction workers operate, working in a trench is often one of the scariest. When a trench collapses, or caves in, it can bury workers and subject them to crushing pressure, which makes rescue difficult or impossible. Recently, a man in the South Park-area found himself in just such a predicament, but was fortunate enough to escape due to a quick rescue.
