Road rage may have prompted pedestrian accident in California

Road rage has led to a great many criminal and civil incidents on our roadways for both drivers and pedestrians. A recent incident that unfolded on a California street may have started due to the road rage of a driver as he argued with a pedestrian. The incident led to a pedestrian accident as the motorist apparently intentionally struck a man in the road.

The pedestrian was a 56-year-old man. According to witnesses, around 7 p.m. on a Friday night, a motorist stopped in the road and got into a verbal exchange with the pedestrian, although there were no details given as to what the two were arguing about. The man then hit the gas as he had his door open. He struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was dragged by the vehicle. The driver then left the scene of the altercation. The pedestrian was taken to a medical facility and reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries. No one has been arrested yet for the pedestrian accident.

Once the driver of the vehicle is found and identified by authorities, that driver may or may not face criminal charges related to the pedestrian accident. The outcome of any criminal charges may help support any contention of liability or recklessness if the victim of this pedestrian accident decides to pursue civil action in a California civil court. If such a civil pursuit were to be successful, the victim may garner monetary damages, which could prove helpful as that victim deals with medical bills, lost wages or other financial losses related to being hit by the car.
