Pedestrian accident takes the life of man in California

Crossing the highway proved to a fatal decision for a man on a Friday night as he lost his life while doing so. The nighttime pedestrian accident happened on a California highway. The driver who hit the man then took off and fled the scene.

The 40-year-old victim was crossing the highway around 11 p.m. at the time of the crash. A Ford SUV came along and struck him. According to the reports, the victim died at the scene of the crash; however, exact details about the injuries he sustained were not reported.

The driver left, and investigators became involved in the situation. Those investigators located the man who struck the pedestrian, and the 28-year-old was taken into custody. As of yet, investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the car accident, but it is unclear why the driver took off from the scene after striking the man.

When a pedestrian is stuck and killed, the family may have to deal with more than the emotional distress caused by unexpectedly losing a loved one in such a tragic way. For families of the victims of pedestrian accidents, there are legal options available to help them move forward after dealing with a fatality such as this. Once the man involved in this pedestrian accident is potentially held accountable for the accident, the family may be able to pursue a wrongful death suit in a California civil court, and that could lead to the awarding of monetary damages to offset any financial strain suffered after the accident.
