Woman charged in fatal California motorcycle accident

A California woman has been charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated concerning her reported role in a motorcycle crash that took the life of 58-year-old man.  The motorcycle accident occurred on August 11th.  No information was reported concerning the woman's blood alcohol level at the time of the crash.

The woman was said to have been approaching a green light in the left-turn area.  According to a California Highway Patrol officer, the woman then executed a left-hand turn directly in front of the motorcycle, and the rider was unable to avoid a collision.  Though the rider was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries concerning the motorcycle accident, he died of his injuries the next day.

We've long maintained that too many motorcycle accidents are the result of drivers not paying adequate attention to riders on the road.  When a driver is distracted or intoxicated the chances of a fatal crash such as the one mentioned above are greatly increased.

Even when such accidents are not fatal, the chances of serious injury are great.  These types of accidents often result in brain or spinal cord injury, severe laceration and broken bones.  Injured riders are often forced to spend extended period of times away from work, and there is always the possibility that medical bills will not be covered by insurance.

Personal injury attorneys can represent such victims and make certain that compensation is complete.  In the event of a fatal accident, family members may require compensation for the financial and emotional support they have lost.

Drivers need to be held responsible for not taking greater care on the roads.
