Cause of California school bus accident remains unknown

San Diego residents may have heard that the cause of last week's school bus crash in Valley Center, California, appears to remain unclear at this point. The motor vehicle accident took place on Friday morning when a Toyota Solora crossed over the center line on Highway 76 and struck the  driver's side of a Valley Center/Pauma Unified School District bus. The bus then crossed the eastbound lane of traffic and came to a stop on the road's shoulder.

Only eight of the 55 grade-school students who were on-board the bus at the time of the accident were injured. Fortunately, none of them needed to be hospitalized after the crash. The 24-year-old driver of the other vehicle suffered a broken leg, among other injuries, and she was taken to a hospital from the car accident scene.

Although the reason the woman crossed the center line is not yet known, California Highway Patrol has reportedly ruled out the influences of alcohol and drugs, according to a news report.

It is notable that three school bus accidents have now occurred in the Valley Center area since September, according to valleycenter.com.

In this case, it is fortunate that no one was more seriously injured. These types of collisions often result in fatalities.

Those who are involved in accidents with school buses or other commercial or public transporation vehicles in California should always seek legal counsel. Car ccidents involving such entities can often involve very complicated insurance issues, which can make it difficult for people to obtain compensation for their injuries.
