Highway covered in spilled milk after California truck accident

A truck accident left thousands of gallons of spilled milk on a California highway recently, after a tanker carrying milk on Interstate 5 crashed into another truck as it merged from the shoulder onto the highway. The accident took place around 9 p.m. and the crash itself and resulting milk spill caused a traffic backup for nearly two hours.

One of the truck drivers told reporters that he was driving over the speed limit and that he did not see the other vehicle as it was pulling out of the shoulder and onto the main highway.

Both were injured but were able to walk away from the accident after receiving medical attention at the scene. Depending on the circumstances of the accident, the injured drivers may choose to pursue a personal injury action or may seek workers compensation through their employers, since this accident occurred on the job.

A police officer who was at the scene said that since traffic was relatively light at the time of the accident, there were no other injuries for passing drivers. She told reporters that if the accident had occurred in the northbound, rather than the southbound lane, the results would have bene much worse. As many California motorists know, a truck accident on a major highway can quickly turn into a much bigger ordeal, since semi-trucks and trailers can spin out of the control and cross several lanes of traffic. Injuries during truck accidents can also be particularly severe, since the weight and size of a truck can overpower other smaller vehicles on the road.
