For the first time since the 1950s, the largest manufacturers of football helmets in the United States are working to redesign their products. The goal is not to find a faster helmet, or one that is better-looking, but to create a helmet that can do more to prevent head and brain injuries in football players of all ages.

Inexperienced riders most likely to be in motorcycle crashes

According to a new set of studies, a motorcyclist is at the highest risk of being involved in a motorcycle accident during his or her first year on the road. In fact, that risk is the highest during the motorcyclist's first 30 days of riding, which are an average of four times more dangerous than his or her entire second year on the bike.

Are helicopters safer than ambulances?

The widow of a fallen police officer has filed a wrongful death against two California cities and another police official, claiming that they are responsible for the death of her husband. The cities have already denied claims filed by the widow under a legal rule which she claims is inapplicable and outdated.
