Every year, the Tony Awards honor Broadway's best and brightest. Musicians, dancers, and a number of other performers often pay tribute to the leaders of song and dance with musical numbers of their own. However, during the 2009 Tony Awards, one of these performances ended in tragedy for Poison lead singer Bret Michaels.

Reckless driver rams car into La Jolla bakery, now faces prison

The 66-year-old San Diego driver who rammed his car into several pedestrians on a La Jolla sidewalk will soon be facing a jury of his peers in California court. Attorneys are in the process of choosing the jury who will decide whether or not the driver is guilty of the charges placed against him, including felony reckless driving, hit-and-run, and three counts of driving without a valid license.

Ex-snowboarder describes recovery from traumatic brain injury

Coast Guard pilot in fatal San Diego collision faces homicide charges

As part of our blog, we have been following the trial surrounding a fatal boating accident which killed an 8-year-old boy. The young boy died after a Coast Guard vehicle collided with his family's boat during a watercraft parade in 2009. The boy's family filed a lawsuit against the five Coast Guard members on board the vessel, which has slowly been working its way through military court.

Nationwide Mazda recall caused by spider infestation

Mazda Motor Corp. recently jumped aboard the recall bandwagon, joining other major car manufacturers such as Toyota and General Motors. Mazda's recall, however, does not involve mechanical failure or faulty design, but rather an infestation of arachnids. As strange as it sounds, spider nests lodged in the fuel tank system have caused the Japanese carmaker to recall approximately 65,000 cars.

Dangerous pit bull allowed to roam San Diego streets

California liability laws state that pet owners are ultimately responsible for the actions of their pet. It is the owner's job to ensure that their animal is properly trained and vaccinated so that it does not pose a threat to other people. If an individual is injured during an animal attack, the victim can file injury compensation charges against the animal's owner.

Drunk driver cleared of manslaughter but still faces DUI charge

A La Mesa, California, woman accused of vehicular manslaughter was acquitted of the criminal charges by the District Attorney's Office. The woman was involved in a New Years Day car accident with killed a 53-year-old pedestrian from Mission Valley. The victim's brother stated that he was on his way to a nearby trolley station after having a few drinks at a New Year's Eve party and not feeling sober enough to get behind the wheel.
